Hosted PBX Systems

Your business can now have a complete office PBX system at a moderate cost using the Xantek Hosted PBX System.

A Hosted PBX system requires no switching equipment in your office. In a hosted PBX, incoming business calls are answered on our hosted PBX equipment. Because the cost of this equipment is shared over many users, hosted systems can have a complete and feature-rich system at an affordable cost.

Callers place calls from any phone, and the calls are routed over the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) to the hosted PBX system. The hosted system answers the calls with a recorded greeting, plays a menu of connection options to the callers, and then routes the call to appropriate employee extension or to a holding queue such as for a support call center.

As the call is routed forward from the hosted PBX system, it is routed over the internet to the specific extension of the employee that the caller is trying to reach. In a hosted system, each extension is associated with a particular person. This person can take the call on any phone, anywhere in the world. This allows employees to work anywhere - in the office, at a branch office, on the road, or from a home office - and seamlessly receive business calls as though they were in a single office location. This ability to handle distrubuted employees is the single biggest difference between hosted PBX systems and old fashioned hardware PBX equipment.

Callers that know the extension number of the employee they want to reach simply enter that number and the system places a call to the extension designated for that employee. No matter where the employee is physically located, the call will be routed to him. If he is unavailble, the call can be routed to a voice mail system on the hosted server or to a phone number, such as cell phone, that the employee has designated as his alternate number.

Outbound calls can be placed from any extension. If they are not to another extension, they are routed to the telephone system (PSTN). The interconnect between the hosted PBX and the phone system is handled by a VOIP interconnect company or SIP provider. This interconnect provider allows employees to call any standard phone in the world. The costs for interconnect service vary, but are generally much less than standard phone rates.
