Voice Over IP (VOIP)

VOIP stands for Voice Over IP. It simply means that your Xantek phone service uses the internet to send your voice traffic, instead of the phone system. VOIP is the wave of the future for voice communications.

The advantage of sending voice traffic over the internet, rather than the telephone system, is that the cost is included in the cost of your internet connection. There are no telephone toll charges for calls made from one extension to another, even if those extensions are located in different cities or even countries.

In the future, we expect all voice calls will be made using Voice over IP. And we also expect that you will be able to interconnect with users on other pbx's. Right now, you can only make free calls to extensions that you explicitly assign in your system. Connection to standard telephones around the worldis a service provided by a SIP provider
